K-5 Back to School Activities
Back to school is an exciting time of year for everyone, especially elementary school students! At the beginning of the school year, planning and reflective activities can help kids organize their goals and calm any first-day nerves. Practicing these skills early also helps children recognize their feelings around learning and can help them know when it’s time to take a break.
Here’s a sneak peek at what we have to offer our K-5 students this fall!
- Back-to-School Mood Meter: Help your child analyze their feelings about the upcoming school year with our mood meter! Students can draw or write what they are most excited about and most nervous about, and they can work through any nervousness through this fun journaling exercise.
- Good Habit Tracker: Our Good Habit Tracker can set your child up for success! Have your child create a goal to form a new habit, and use our Habit Tracker to help them achieve it!
- Brain Break Boost Board: When you’re learning a lot, it’s healthy to take a break every now and then! Check out our fun brain breaks to help your learner relax after their lesson.
- Time Capsule: Create a time capsule including a letter for your future self to open at the end of the school year! See how far you’ve grown and how much you’ve achieved with this treasure chest to the future!
- Dream Learning Space: Design your dream learning space with our guided journal activity. If your classroom could be anywhere and have anything, what would you pick?
- Back to School Around the World: Learn about school in different countries, and try a new practice to add interest to your school day. From daily tidying to a two-block schedule or a day just to play sports, get inspired about all the possibilities of your homeschool routine today!
Middle School Back-to-School Activities
For older students, back to school is a time to be optimistic! New classes, new friends, and new experiences are all yet to be had. These back-to-school activities help middle schoolers practice independence as they plan and organize their school year.
By reflecting on past successes and challenges, students can plan for improvement and can track their progress as they become the best learners they can be.
Here’s a sneak peek at what we have to offer our middle school students this fall!
- Reflect and Grow: In this exercise, students reflect on what education means to them, and can then use those ideas to guide them through the new school year.
- One Word Goal: This activity encourages students to summarize their goal in one word with additional activities to set the tone for the new year!
- Structure for Success: Students will design a personal schedule around their personal needs and wants to set them up for success.
- Personal Learning Hub: In this activity, students will design a personal learning hub based on their needs and preferences, and then brainstorm how to bring it to life.
- Brain Break Boost: When you’re learning a lot, it’s healthy to take a break every now and then! These fun brain breaks will help your learner relax and refresh between lessons.
- My Present to My Future: Students will create an “All About Me” time capsule to open at the end of the school year, to see how much they’ve grown!
High School Back-to-School Activities
For high school students, each new school year brings them closer to graduation! For busy high schoolers, being proactive about planning and reflecting can help them prioritize and accomplish their goals. Whether it’s getting a driver’s license, landing a first job, or getting into their dream college, high school students can put their plans in action as they prepare for the next big steps!
Here’s what we have for our high school students this semester:
- Reflect and Grow: By reflecting on powerful quotes, students can explore their personal meaning of education, as well as how it shapes their goals and aspirations.
- Vision Board: This activity helps students clarify their personal and academic targets, explore potential career paths, and identify the skills and values that matter most to them.
- Structure for Success: In this activity, students will create a schedule to balance schoolwork, personal time, and self-care. By organizing their day thoughtfully, your student can ensure they have time for everything that matters!
- Personal Learning Hub: In this activity, students will evaluate their needs and preferences, then design an ideal personal learning hub and plan to create it.
- Brain Break Boost: When you’re learning a lot, it’s healthy to take a break every now and then! These fun brain breaks will help your student relax and refresh between lessons.
- My Present to My Future: Students will create an “All About Me” time capsule to open at the end of the school year, to see how much they’ve grown!
